Changes to Unfair Dismissal, Maternity and Paternity Pay

Legislation Update
Unfair Dismissal : On 6 April 2012, the qualifying period for claiming unfair dismissal will be extended from one year to two years for those starting a new job on or after 6 April 2012.
Tribunal procedure: Also on this date, the government will implement proposals increasing the amount of legal costs that can be claimed at Tribunal and increasing the amount of deposit orders which can be made.
Statutory Payments: On 9 April 2012 Statutory Maternity and Paternity Pay, Additional Paternity, Adoption Pay and Maternity Allowance will increase from £128.73 to £135.45. Statutory Sick Pay will increase from £81.60 to £85.85.
